Welcome to the PEACE website from Antrobus in rural Cheshire.

PEACE was formed to oppose the construction and operation of an animal byproducts processing facility at Thellow Heath Farm on the A559 at Antrobus and a barn conversion and the construction of houses at Senna Green Farm.

The proceeds of the housing project were to be used to part fund the above rendering plant. Both of these locations are in green belt in the Cheshire countryside at Antrobus and Comberbach.

An animal byproducts processing facility is also known as a rendering plant and as such is associated with powerful unpleasant smells, pollution, an unsightly construction and possible health concerns.

Both Planning Applications Refused

Following a three year campaign by PEACE and strong opposition from all local Parish Councils and an overwhelming majority of residents, both of the above planning applications were refused on Tuesday 17th February 2009 by the VRBC Planning Committee. The committee vote to refuse the applications was unanimous bar one abstention in the vote against the rendering plant.

PEACE has been advised by Vale Royal Borough Council (now Cheshire West and Chester Council) that no appeal to these decisions has been lodged.

The neighbours who formulated PEACE will continue to remain alert and in the event that any further plans were to be submitted would be prepared to reform the group.

A ‘thank you’  to all our supporters

We record our profound thanks for all the support and encouragement we have received. This result is a tribute to the combined efforts of us all, and shows how much can be achieved by a vigorous village community. We are proud to have played a small part in maintaining the quality and beauty of Antrobus village and the surrounding area.

Refund of Surplus Contributions

We have now refunded the remaining campaign funds to our contributors. The people who kindly donated to the fund have each been sent a cheque and letter explaining the pro-rata system that we have used to calculate the amount repayable.

Following the refunds many residents responded with kind letters. We gratefully acknowledge the many letters of thanks from our supporters.
